Hi --
My nfs/nis server is still running RH 3.0.3 (2.0.x kern, etc.), since I
haven't wanted to take it down long enough to upgrade yet. I'm wondering if
anyone has knowledge about the viability of combining the upgrade and update
installation process. I've got the contents of the updates/4.0/i386 directory
here, which I will install as soon as the upgrade is finished. My question
is, can I just copy the tree from the cdrom, and replace the RPMS which have
since been updated *before* I do the upgrade? My guess is that the upgrade
programs just look for and install *.rpm in the /image/RedHat/RPMS directory
-- if this is the case, it should deal with sendmail-8.7.6-5.i386.rpm (the new
fixed version) just as well as it would with sendmail-8.7.5-5.i386.rpm (which
ships on the cdrom).
If this *will* work, are there new risks it introduces? (in terms of the
liklihood of a successful upgrade...)
Thoughts?
please cc: replies to me, as I don't have the time to read this list too
anymore... :(
Thanks,
Joshua
