Peter,
I don't know if this helps, but there is evidently two ways to do what
you want.
1, you can tell Apache what you already did and it should work just fine,
because the browser will send the requested URL to the server, and it
will behave appropriately based on that information alone...
2, I haven't done it, but it seems you can alias at the network level,
and it seems you were headed along those lines.
In short, you should be ready to go already, unless you really want the
IP aliasing thing.
Just make sure your network is configured properly and it should work fine.
