question on uninstalling a package

I need to upgrade to the kernel source kernel-source-2.0.18-6.rpm, and
I rpm -i it. then I was messing up on something (subject of another
post), and rm -rf /usr/src/linux-2.xxxx . Well, now I cannot rpm -i
the .rpm file anymore, as the rpm database still thinks that the
kernel-source package is still installed.
I cannot rpm -e the package, as the files do not exist. I looked at
the rpm manpage, and did not see a -force option for the -erase. Do I
just have to -i with -force, and go from there?
