Look, it's simple. There are no tricks involved. O.k., there are two tricks,
but you only need to choose one:
either
1) Install Win95 first and then Linux with lilo on the master boot record.
This avoids giving Win95 the opportunity to overwrite your MBR lilo setup.
or
2) Install Win95 after Linux, but not until after you've verified that you can
get back into your Linux setup using a boot floppy. Now when Win95
overwrites your MBR you can just boot off the floppy, run /sbin/lilo, and
reclaim the MBR.
Of course, in either case you have to have your /etc/lilo.conf set up to
correctly identify your boot options and your chain loader for Win95, but
there's no tricks involved here, just Standard Operating Procedure in a
multiboot environment.
If Win95 currently infests your entire disk, then use Partition Magic ($) or
fips (free) to shrink your Win95 partition.
