Problems with modem, ppp, and printing

Ok here is another problem. I have a Supra 28.8 modem on com3 in weekdos
and a hp680c on lpt1. When I installed RH4.0 neither work I have set
them using control panel and tried using ppp with my modem with no
affect.
I tried printing from ApplixWord and nothing. I tried printing the page
that pops up in RedBarron but nothing there either. I know these are
compatible with linux because I had them working on a slackware 96
system with rpm 2.6 and other goodies "I got in rpm format . I want to
connect to my ISP from linux but until this problem is fixed I will have
to connect through weekdos. Can anyone help?
Here is my system:
IBM 6x86 mother board and cpu
Western digital 2.5 gig Harddrive on my primary ide with half partioned
for week dos and half for LiNUX
Iomega Zip SCSI insider
Adaptec Ava-1502 SCSI controler that came with the zip
Supra 28.8 modem
HP Deskjet 680c
Mitsumi 8x IDE cd rom on secondary ide
Mitsumi 3.5 floppy
Creative Labs SB16
GoldStar Studioworks 76i 17in monitor
