CD-rom installation problem

I just got RH linux/intel 4.0 and I tried to install it on my system.
When it asked me what type of cd-rom I have, I told it I had a Sony31a,
then it said "device not found". So then I told it it was on port 0x340
with no irq and it still said device not found. Does anyone konw how to
fix this problem?
