ahhh, but this assumes that the system ever gets to the linux level (like
i said, this isn't the most appropriate forum for this question...). the
system hangs during ROM-level initialization - after the BIOS banner, but
before the AutoSCSI prompt. this leaves termination as one of the few
possibilities.
i also noticed that, when i reinstalled the jaz onto our Alpha, the scsi
probe didn't show anything on ID 6 (the Jaz), but the drive works fine
once the system is booted. could it be that the Jaz isn't responding
properly to some sort of initialization query?
btw, i will certainly look into the new driver. just in case i ever get
the system to boot with the Jaz installed...
