I second that.  If you only use computers occasionally maybe you can make
do with a low end card and monitor, but if you're going to spend a substantial
fraction of your life with the computer, you really should have the best
window into cyberspace you can afford.

In my not-so-humble opinion, having a good monitor, keyboard, and chair is
*much* more important than having the latest fast CPU.  Of course, I'm not
doing nuclear weapon simulation or other such computation-intensive work.

Some of us have the opposite problem.  Because it is so important to me, I
have a reasonably decent setup at home (ok, only a single 20 inch monitor).
But my employer doesn't recognize the productivity benfits of quality
monitors, so at work I only have a 15 inch monitor.  :-(
