My X Windows (fvwm1.2) hung.
I was running with 3 xterms and netscape as I have many
times before.
But this time, all of a sudden, after working for the first
few minutes, but very slowly - which I attributed to a network
problem, I go no response.
I couldn't even switch to a non-X console.
I couldn't even press Control-Alt-Delete.
I had to manually restart the computer.
Is there any way to diagnose this type of problem?
I am using the standard XFree that came with RH4.0 with
the S3Trio64 Setup?
Will upgrading to the New XFree, MetroX or AcceleratedX
help - are they really faster and improve on memory useage?
I have 64Meg swap-space, 32Meg Ram, and 2Meg Video, which
I thought was adequate.
This is the first time in many months, and certainly the
first time since I upgraded from 16 to 32 Meg Ram that I
had this problem. Any ideas?
