You didn't explicitly state it, but I'm assuming that your Barracuda uses
wide SCSI.
Since the SCSI bus needs to have exactly two terminations, at ends of the
bus, you may be having trouble because of the 68-pin to 50-pin cable. With
both the Barracuda and the Jaz termination turned on, and the Buslogic
termination off, it is possible that the upper data lines and parity may
have only have a single termination, at the Barracuda. Unless the 68-pin to
50-pin cable has internal termination for that part.
If the Buslogic has separate control over termination for the high part of
the bus, try turning that on.
Otherwise you'll need a wide-to-narrow adapter that includes termination for
the high part.
The other way to test my hypothesis would be to somehow disable the wide
mode on the Buslogic and force it to use narrow for both drives.
