Well, I'm using the NIS Stuff on a large network and tried to optimize
some of the ypserver & yppasswd rpm-packages for installation. :) I=C4ll
make a new version availiable soon, when I get my new Harddisk ...=20
5 Gig isn't enough anymore ;)

This is due to the atrun job. In fact, I had to give each client a
Time-slice and run at onc an houre. It fills up your YP-Server with
requests and puts the load up for nothing. Just let the atrun stuff
run once an houre.

They do, but they have no atrun active ;)

An ls by exampl makes a request to the YP-server to resolve the uid
into usernames or group names. IN fact, almost every system call that
goes over one of the files that is contained as map on the NIS Server
will produce a request to the server...

Yes. I noticed this too. Took me quite some time to find this out. In
fact, the Network bandwidht (10MBit) is not high enough to make all
requests pass fast enough...

Yes ... Deactivate the atrunq and set it to 1 per hour...
