Agreed - I have a 486DX33 with two IDE drives (WD Caviar) internally and
a 1GB SCSI Fujitsu hanging off an Adaptec 1542CF card. Every install
attempt eventually hangs with no error messages whatsoever after varying
lengths of time into the install (whilst packages were being copied from
CDROM). Ignoring the SCSI drive and installing only to the IDE drives
went like clockwork. System is fine until I mount the SCSI drive
partitions - it then hangs after a short time (varies from seconds to
minutes). Hardware works fine with linux - I've had SLS and Slackware
distributions on the same kit since mid 1993 and never a problem. I just
wanted to move up to Redhat. Going to try a kernel with 1542 support
statically linked next....
