Kernel errat fix, now SNAFU

Hiya. I installed redhat 4.0 on my PC at work. I've got an Adaptec 1515
SCSI adapter, which doesn't autoprobe correctly (I think it's sans a
BIOS). I passed in the correct SCSI parameters during setup, and installed
OK off the (SCSI) CD. While still in setup I installed LILO on a
floppy. Subsequently I booted in with LILO, appending an aha152x= parameter
so that the driver would load correclty. I built a new kernel with 152x
support internal (i.e. not as a module), modified LILO to not need an
initrd and to have the aha152x= parameters, and rebooted.
Everything was fine.
So I just downloaded the RPM updates and upgraded. You can guess what
happened -- the updated kernel RPM overwrote my kernel, and now my LILO
boot disk won't get me in, regardless of the parameters I pass in at the
boot prompt. Worse, the CD-ROM is now with a friend, so I can't even
install afresh from it.
How can I boot in to fix things? I've got copies of the two floppies that
come with the CD-ROM, but I can't seem to get to a boot prompt via the boot
floppy.
Yes, I will make a rescue disk as soon as I'm past this.
