named problem

I am running Picasso still (can't stand the thought of rebooting to
bring up Colgate yet. Rebooting puts a dent in my uptime.) and am
suddenly having a problem with named. I think it has happened before
and cleared up but this time it has been going for a day or so.
Here is the problem from /var/log/messages:

I am using the latest named.root:

Things appear to be working normally except for the messages that
rapidly fill my system messages log and nslookup can't lookup the
names though host can:
tyson@falcon:host I.ROOT-SERVERS.NET
I.ROOT-SERVERS.NET has address 192.36.148.17
tyson@falcon:host 192.36.148.17
Name: i.root-servers.net
Address: 192.36.148.17
Aliases:
tyson@falcon:nslookup I.ROOT-SERVERS.NET
Server: falcon.rwii.com
Address: 207.22.3.1
*** falcon.rwii.com can't find I.ROOT-SERVERS.NET: Non-existent host/domain
tyson@falcon:nslookup 192.36.148.17
Server: falcon.rwii.com
Address: 207.22.3.1
Name: i.root-servers.net
Address: 192.36.148.17
It appears to be only nslookup by name that fails. Nslookup by IP works
and 'host' works both ways.
I had not made any changes to any of the named config files when it
started failing.
Any help?
