Thanks for the hint, Michael. One more thing though, I don't have the 
pam_allow.so module on my system... i have the updated pam rpm:
--
[root@tulipe updates]# rpm -q pam
pam-0.50-21
--
seems like this file does not belong to any rpms... any idea, anyone? thanks
