Hi all,
I fancy myself a pretty experienced RedHat user, having been around since RedHat 2.0... So I'm wondering if I still lack an essential skill when installing upgrades....
I installed the RedHat 4.0 upgrade via NFS, and it seemed to work flawlessly. Really, an excellent installation utility. Then I rebooted and attepmted to login. To my surprise I got an error stating that libdl.so.1 couldn't be found, and of course got kicked right back to the login screen. I was locked out!
Fortunately, by going back to the install disks and performaining a second 'upgrade', I got the libraries in question installed, and could login.
Has this been reported before? Since I didn't alter the files to be upgraded from 3.0.3, is there a bug in the logic that determines which packages are installed, or is rpm not updating it's dependencies properly?
This is the only problem I encountered, and it was easily fixed, but it is one that would scare the pants off a newbie.
Otherwise, however, BRAVO on a weel executed RedHat release. I'll be sending in an order for the CD in the near future!
