	I would take it out, put it in another box where
       Linux is installed and tried to fsck, mount,
       copy all the data from it, re-partition and
       re-format then check the disk in a non-critical environment
       for a week or so. If it fails again, it's certainly
       defective and should be exchanged by your dealer.

Unfortunately, the disk in question is a Jaz disk, and I don't know anyone
else with a Jaz drive who runs Linux.  I guess I'll just reformat it and
start over--I did a clean install of 4.0 not too long ago. <shrug>

Say, out of four Jaz disks I've had (including this one, which came with
the drive), three have been defective.  Has anyone else had such a
miserable track record, or might my drive be faulty?
