this sounds *exactly as the problem for which I already sent a
fix this morning. I'll repeat it here. Should BTW the redhat folks
make it possible to fix the problem from the installation menus? It
should be trivial to do... Or at least put this info in the
FAQ/Errata/etc.

This morning I wrote:
I had a similar problem with my portable. In my case (dunno if
it applies to you, too) the problem was that my card (an El Cheapo NE
2000 compatible clone) was *not* recognized by the pcmcia software, as
its funny name did not have an entry in the /etc/pcmcia/config file.
Solution in my case was to unpack the pcmcia archive in the
installation floppy, add my card infos and write it back (this
requires a working Linux system...). Then everything worked. You can
check for this by watching the log virtual console when you insert the
card. If it is not recognized you will see an appropriate message
together with the card info, i.e. the same info you'll need to put in
/etc/pcmcia/config.
