This is not really suitable for the RedHat list, but this rarely stops 
anyone from asking .... so I'll answer with the two best I've found:


For the basics of doing things in the Linux/Unix environment (assuming man 
make, and man gcc aren't enough :-) I recomend:

"Using C on the Unix System" by David A Cury, O'Reilly & Associates.
ISBN 0-937175-23-4


Probably the best on unix programming in general:

"Advanced Programming in the Unix Envrionment" by Stevens, Addison Wesley
ISBN 0-201-56317-7
