Rpm is great, but I still find I want to add or upgrade
a package using tar and gunzip.
If there were a way to update the rpm installed package
database with these tarred installations, there wouldn't
be any loose ends.
Perhaps someday there could be an rpm option for it like:
rpm -T package-1.2-3.rpm
that would do this.
