Hello all,

Got this message while trying to back up a 4.0 system with all
applicable errata stuff installed:

/-- nstmp sda1 lev 1 FAILED [dump returned 3]
sendbackup: start [nstmp:sda1 level 1 datestamp 19961108]
| DUMP: Date of this level 1 dump: Fri Nov 8 23:15:38 1996
| DUMP: Date of last level 0 dump: Wed Nov 6 23:15:18 1996
| DUMP: Dumping /dev/sda1 (/) to standard output
| DUMP: mapping (Pass I) [regular files]
| DUMP: mapping (Pass II) [directories]
| DUMP: estimated 644 tape blocks.
| DUMP: dumping (Pass III) [directories]
| DUMP: master/slave protocol botched.
| DUMP: The ENTIRE dump is aborted.
sendbackup: error [dump returned 3]
\--------

The very first dump of this filesystem (a level 0, obviously) worked fine.
The system has dump-0.3-5 installed. Anyone has a clue?

                    Thanks,

                            Ed
