This isn't Linux specific, but people seem to allow such questions, so ....
I'm using the RedHat devel XFree86 3.2 rpms, i.e.
% rpm -qa | grep XF
XFree86-fonts-3.1.2-11
XFree86-libs-3.2-1
XFree86-VGA16-3.2-1
XFree86-SVGA-3.2-1
XFree86-S3-3.2-1
XFree86-3.2-1
XFree86-devel-3.2-1
%
with UK keyboards. VCs work fine, but X appears to need some more mappings
(some rpm config files are replaced by local `generic' versions, so it may well
be my fault) -- I suspect very much that I need to load
/usr/lib/X11/xkb/symbols/gb but I can't see how to ! "man xkbcomp" is the
nearest I've got, but it doesn't actually say how to use them ...
Also, any ideas why xdm (which is actually xdm-shadow) reads shadow files on
one machine, but not on another ? They have the same xdm binary, and the same
/etc/pam.conf. Any suggestions as to where I should look ?
