two quick questions

To the point: I'm sure many people (besides myself) have successfully
recompiled their kernel. How did you do it! I followed the step in the
user guide and argh... I want to add the module for java support and
arcnet card support. Second question: If anyone out there has
applixware tell me how do you set it up to print to a "regular" laser
printer. All I get is funny characters. Speaking of which, has anyone
experienced printer problems with Red Hat 4.0? I had 3.0.3 and had none
but upgraded and look out! Thanks !!!

P.S I'm a college student interested in learning about programming in
linux. Would anyone give me directions as to which book I should get to
get myself started?
