   I'm not sure how widely this is implemented, but with some of the
more recent XFree86 servers, you can put the following in the appropriate
"Device" section in /etc/X11/XF86Config:

	Option	"power_saver"

   This works for me with both the version 3.2 Mach 64 and S3 servers.

   If you use Metro X, you can adjust the power saving settings from
the configX program.
