The following message is a courtesy copy of an article
that has been posted as well.

I like what Xaw3d gives me -- attractive, motif-like widgets for xterms,
etc.

Previously I'd followed the advice of John Fisk, in his Linux Gazette
(http://www.ssc.com/lg/linux_gazette.aug.html#xaw3d), and replaced my Xaw
lib and its links with the Xaw3d lib. This had the advantage of instantly
making every app linked with Xaw look good, but I think I heard something
or other at the time about how doing that was a bad idea.

Now I've upgraded to the Redhat 4.0 linux distribution, and I see that Xaw
and Xaw3d are once again segregated. The color xterm that comes with this
distribution (nxterm) is linked explicitly with Xaw3d. Is that the right
way to use these two libs -- keep them distinct and link against the one of
your choosing?

Please advise me,

morgan
