I just went through a week of trying to get a Compaq Prosignia 500 server
running Linux. The onboard SCSI controller only works if you insmod
/modules/53c7,8xx.o. The onboard Ethernet controller worked right off the
bat. I installed an Adaptec 2940 and was able to install RHL4.0 using a
different boot image that included Adaptec support. I haven't yet tried to
get the Compaq DAT drive or CDROM to work, but they are picked up in my
/proc/scsi/scsi file.
