The free tool is hpscanpbm (command-line, produces PPM images),
which will probably also work for the 4P. You can use it with any
SCSI controller (it uses the generic SCSI-device).
I think XVscan is XV with hpscanpbm integrated (which is probably
a good choice if you want a graphical interface).
