Hi. I just attempted to update a 2.0.10 kernel (from Rembrandt) to the
2.0.18 kernel that comes with Colgate. The rpms installed and verified ok, and
I ran lilo.
When I boot, it finds the kernel, but it generates a kernel panic and stops
while trying to load the aic7xxx.o module. I've seen all the notes about
boot disks and the aic7xxx.o module. Thing is, the standard Colgate boot
image works fine with my controller (2940UW). Did the aic7xxx.o module break
between 2.0.10 and 2.0.18?
The kernel panic actually complains about the module symbols not matching
the kernel (or something like that), and says something like "the 2.0.10
module doesn't match your 2.0.18", which I find pretty odd. The 2.0.18 modules
are all in /lib/modules/2.0.18. I temporarily removed the 2.0.10 directory and
it still generated this error.
Anyone have a clue about this?
