APCd works good... which is why I made a quick rpm of it, and ftp'd it to
redhat.

Nope, you dont have to buy a cable, you can build your own. The
instructions are really straight forward. uses a DB 9 cable, pin-out and
instructions are in the man page. I just grabbed some DB9's I had, and
used a length of CAT 5 to put it all together.
