I'm wondering if it's something in the interaction of the monitor with 
the card and with AccelX rather than AccelX alone.  I'm using a 4Mb 
Matrox Millenium with a Viewsonic PT770 monitor & have no such problem. 
 I had a similar problem to yours when I was using an ATI Graphics 
Xpression.  Look into monitor refresh rate adjustment, maybe?
