At the ISP where I used to work, we set the Rocketport to 115k on every port and that seemed to work fine. We told mgetty that the speed was 115k and the modems (all SupraFax 288s) were quite happy there. On local FTPs, we could pump out ~3200 cps which I understand is about tops with FTP. Using ZModem to download files from the prompt, we could get ~3600 cps which is *EXCELLENT* for a 28.8 connect. So, that would be my suggestion. Say, do you get intermittant mgetty errors concerning the inability to get TIOs? That was one problem that we could never nail down.
