It has nothing to do with fvwm95.
You should edit your XF86Config file and change sequence
of videomodes or remove modes you don't want whatsoever.
Do not delete them, use # has marks to mark them out.
E.g. I left the only one:
-----------------------------------------------
[snip]
# 800x600 @ 72 Hz, 48.0 kHz hsync
# Modeline "800x600" 50 800 856 976 1040 600 637 643 666
+hsync +vsync
#Modeline "1022x766" 75 1022 1048 1184 1328 766 771 777 806
+hsync +vsync
# 1024x768 @ 70 Hz, 56.5 kHz hsync
Modeline "1024x768" 75 1024 1048 1184 1328 768 771 777 806
-hsync -vsync
-----------------------------------------------
Another alternative is to delete all the modes you
don't want in this section:
-----------------------------------------------
Subsection "Display"
Depth 16
Modes "800x600" "1022x766" "1024x768"
pro ViewPort 0 0
Virtual 1024 820
-----------------------------------------------
So, in "Modes" line, I can delete "800x600" and
"1022x766", then it will go straight in 1024x768.
