'Fraid not (yet). A few months ago, I spoke to Scott Snyder (who maintains
the Linux IDE CD driver) about adding changer support to Linux. At the time,
Scott didn't have an autochanger to play with, and we were hoping that I
would be able to add rudimentary changer support to the ide-cd driver.

Unfortunately, the CDR-C3G isn't ATAPI 2.5 compliant (it only complies with
ATAPI 1.2, which doesn't define any changer operations). I tried everything
(ATAPI 2.5 commands, logical drive number, top two address bits etc. etc.)
but I couldn't make the autochanger do anything. I had my kernel build
number in the 100's :-)

Scott has since added support for ATAPI 2.5 compliant CD drives. I would still
like to be able to use slots 2 and 3 on my CDR-C3G, though.

Apparently, this type of drive was made by Sanyo for Gateway 2000. Sanyo claim
that, since the unit was made exclusively for this customer, to the customer's
specifications, all support issues lie with the customer (GW2K). So, it looks
like only Gateway can supply the necessary technical data to drive the
autochanger.

Gateway in Europe told me I would have to get the info from Gateway in the
USA, and that's where I stopped. A combination of the time difference AND the
fact that the cost of a call across the Atlantic makes it a bit expensive to
sit on hold, get passed around from department to department ....

However, if someone nearer to home could get the technical data from Gateway,
I'd be more than happy to write the code .... (hint, hint)
