Some time ago I wrote a simple hack script for keeping track of all
changes I make to config files. John Fisk put in into his Linux
Gazette, issue # 6, and you can find the script at :
http://www.redhat.com/linux-info/lg/lg_issue6.html#new_hack
It basically keeps a copy of the original file and tracks changes with
RCS. You can also hack a directory, it which case it will just keep a
link to that directory. This make it easy to backup all your changes
from one location.
It shouldn't be too much work to find the diffs between your hack'd file
and the one rpm just installed ...
