Right on!

Thanks to all who replied.  

I managed to get my card running in 24 bit
mode and all of the problems have disappeared.  

All I can say is WOW, what a beautiful display!  

  I have a Matrox Millenium 4 MB (OEM type, not even the 220 Ramdac) and
Accelerated-X v. 1.3

My monitor is a Gateway Vivitron 1776 
 (Sony Trinitron aka Multisync 1280x1028 @60Hz). 

The pair of this card and display rivals my SS20 in the office with a
fancy video card (SUN leo).
