The following was printed on a piece of paper in my Educational Edition:
Please note: As part of an error in some of our pre-product release 
literature, it should be noted that the filter packs included are import 
only.  However, ApplixWords can be exported to RTF, which should be able 
to be translated into almost any word processor.  It can also be 
exported to ascii and even HTML.

I hope that clarifies things, they might have forgotten to include that 
in your package.
