I would just like to say that we aren't whining. I think (and so
do many others) that RedHat Linux and Applixware are very good
products if not the best Linux products available.
We also realize the products are not perfect. So that when we
feel there is a bug or something behaves in a way that is unexpected,
we report it, and look for either a fix or a work-around, or to
see if others are having the same problems and how they resolved it.
As far as rpm goes, I like it alot, and I think it can be improved
(I am suggesting, not complaining) by:
a) Allowing option to upgrade all except certain files, such as:
add an -excludefile filename flag that will upgrade all files
except the specified ones.
b) Allowing option to to upgrade a single file, such as:
add an upgrade -file filename flag that will upgrade only the
specified file.
I believe in earlier versions, when things like /etc/hosts,
/etc/passwd, or the httpd.conf got modified by an rpm upgrade,
the original version used to get moved to *.rpmsave. Why was
this feature removed?
