ethernet, another module question

O.K., possibly related to the IOmega ZIP question I just posted...I have
built a kernel image with _no ethernet_ cards built in. Instead, all
possible cards have been made as modules.

Is there a clean way of loading the desired ethernet module on boot, since
networking should already be up by the time rc.local is run? Or, is this
another thing that I can configure the modules/kerneld package to load a
particular ethernet module on a given machine?

Thanks,

Mike
