[2407] in RedHat Linux List
Missing files in dev-2.4-1.i386.rpm?

Hi,
Just finished installing Colgate and everything went extremely smooth
(great job guys! I thought the 3.03 install was easy!). On to the
problem: I installed all of the errata updates immediately upon reboot
and here is what happens when installing the updated 'dev' package:
[root@localhost updates]# rpm -Uvh dev-2.4-1.i386.rpm
dev ##################################################
package /dev/ptyd1 not found in file index
package /dev/ptyue not found in file index
package /dev/ttyc3 not found in file index
package /dev/vcs15 not found in file index
package /dev/vcsa28 not found in file index
[root@localhost updates]# rpm -Vp dev-2.4-1.i386.rpm
missing /dev/ptyd1
missing /dev/ptyue
missing /dev/ttyc3
missing /dev/vcs15
missing /dev/vcsa28
All other updated packages verified cleanly except this one. Does anyone
know if these messages can be safely ignored or is it just a matter of
running MAKEDEV to create these devices? Has anyone else had this problem
so far? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
