Dialin/dialout problem

I was going throught the new Red Hat Tips dialup page and made
all of the adjustments to my system. My problem is when I attempt
to dial-out with minicom. It says it is initializing the modem
but I don't see the init string in the main window. I can dial
but after 1 to 4 seconds, the modem gets hung up. I think this
is being caused by uugetty respawning. I had to comment out the
uugetty ttyS0 line to connect to my account to write this.
Any suggestions on how to get the 2 programs to work in harmony.
I read the serial howto, but I could have glazed over this fine
detail. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
