Hi,
Today, visiting a CD ROM store, I saw blue boxes of RedHat4.0
release... Although I wasn't planning to upgrade to it yet,
the strong temptation overwhelmed me and I took it... I am not going
to quote all the minor error messages that popped up during the
upgrade process, it took 3 hours and I am through with it
anyway...
#1: Xload is missing. Where did my previous xload binary go? Why was it
erased by the upgrade process?
#2: NO tools in Control Panel work anymore; I get:
Error: invalid command name "fork".
Stack trace:
invalid command name "fork"
while executing
"fork "
invoked from within
"set childpid [ fork ]..."
(procedure "run_module" line 4)
invoked from within
"run_module 0"
(command bound to event)
#3: FVWM95 dumps core. I had to edit my .Xclients to execute
the fvwm95 binary from 41.whatever.f release using modules
and the rest from the one that is included with 4.0. When is
it gonna be fixed?
#4: My .fvwm2rc95 didn't work. In particular, the taskbar
refused to display Pager and it was very long, 1.5 times
longer than usual. Other modules didn't work properly...
so, I decided to try TheNextLevel (still using the old
binary of fvwm95-2...
#5: NextLevel: I am unable to customize it. I know what
every line in my old .fvwm95rc2 meant but TheNextLevel
config file uses a different syntax. How can I merge them
into one? Any diff patch anywhere?
I'd appreciate any help with all this.
