Agreed.  This issue arises all over the control panel components.
More generally, you should escape anythying that would otherwise
be subject to substitution.  The guys in Red hats are away of this,
but I suspect it's not an urgent priority.  They seem to be in the
process of rewriting the Configurators, so hopefully this sort of
thing will get fixed.
