Subject: NetCfg broken... Here's the problem/solution

Yesterday I posted a question about getting my PPP
connection to stop dialing out right after booting,
saying that I couldn't start netcfg anymore. I now
know why...

I made a mistake when running netcfg the first time
by leaving one of the routing fields blank. This
wrote a /etc/sysconfig/static-routes file that had
a line missing one of the fields. When netcfg is run
the next time, it pukes on this line. Looks like
netcfg either needs to be more forgiving on the
format of these lines or more rigid in what it allows
when filling in the fields (or write a default if
nothing is entered?). A short-term workaround is to
'mv' the file to some other name and then netcfg will
start.

This brings me to a question... What should my routes
look like for a PPP connection? I know my netmask and
the host that I'm connecting to, but that doesn't quite
fill out all of the routing fields. Is static routing
required by PPP or is that negotiated during the
connection?

Thanks,
Craig
