I'm still trying to get a SLIP connection between my Linux system
and the company Portmaster. I now have a better understanding of
what is happening. When I connect to the Portmaster and do an
"ifconfig -a" I can see that only two interfaces are up, lo and
sl0. The sl0 connection appears to be established correctly, indicating
my local IP connected to the IP of the portmaster. I can even PING
myself, but as soon as I attempt to ping any other address on the network,
including the portmaster, the line is dropped immediately. The only
additional odd thing I see is that I seem to have a broadcast address
set for the loopback, but none for the sl0 connection. Anybody have
any ideas for a Linux beginner. I'd really appreciate the help, I'm driving
myself nuts trying to guess problems. I even recompiled the kernel to
make absolutely sure that I have the necessary networking components installed.

THANKS!!!

Mike
