Bingo! Exactly the nudge I needed (or I got lucky this time). I did need
to compile into the kernal SCSI support and ext2 support - but after that
- she runs! (I don't use IDE)

And I now have (but very scratchy) my sound card back up!

Now to decide which of three networking projects/challenges to work on now
8-)!
