Mostly cause of historical reasons.  I used to subscribe to the
list.  Got too many messages so I subscribed to the digest.
Wanted to reply to individual messages, so I split them up
and stuck it in a folder.  Why didn't I just go subscribe
back to the list and stick it in the folder?

    It may be totally false but I figure the digest creates
    less net traffic than a bunch of individual messages
    (better compression? less headers?).
