sendmail hangs

I have just recently purchased Red Hat 4.0 and installed on my home
machine. Everything works pretty good execpt for one thing-- sendmail
hangs on boot-up! Has anyone experienced this problem? If so, I'd really
appreciate your suggestion and/or fix. Thanks!
