Already supported.
For the 1400, configure the tape drive with DOS or Windows and make note of IRQ, DMA & Address settings.
I use DMA 3, IRQ 5 & Address 210-217.  This allows me to use the floppy drives at the same time as ftape.
When you build the kernel and include ftape support, it reminds you to put these settings in one of the makefiles.
If you don't, you will not be able to use ftape.  I have been running it on a 2.0.0 kernel since 2.0.0 was released.
I think I also had to create the ftape /dev files.

I would like to know if RedHat has any plans in the near or latter future
to make drivers for Colorado Tape backup units? Specifically the Colorado
1400 TBU, its the 1.3gig tape backup unit. Thanks for any info...
