The kernel recognizes the 3c509, but I don't think it sees the WaveLAN. I
took out the 3Com, and left the WaveLAN in, and the kernel came back with:
INIT: Entering runlevel 3...
Delaying eth0 initialization
Delaying eth1 initialization
Start daemons...

The 3Com already has PnP disabled, and it is at IO 330 and IRQ 5. The
WaveLAN is at IO 300, and the IRQ is not settable. But I think it likes to
default to IRQ 12. I don't know if this is a problem, because I have a PS/2
mouse socket, but it's disabled in the BIOS. PS/2 mice do sit on 12, I am
not sure if ACER BIOS (Phoenix) does a good job or not. (This is an ACER
pre-built that I upgraded for a friend)
The WaveLAN card has a network ID area which has to be specified, and
supposedly this is changeable in the append statement. So I set it, and the
same thing happens, Delaying eth1 initialization.
Also, when I tried the append statement "append="ether=0x330,5,eth0
ether=0x300,0,0xBEEF,eth1" it wouldn't initialize either cards (0xBEEF is my
network ID in hex).
How do I get this card to initialize?
