I understand from a couple of freinds who use (ugh) commercial UNIX's,
that they do not use getties anymore. They us something called portmon
or portmonitor, that is idle and takes up many fewer resources than the
getties do. I'm still pretty new to this stuff, Does anybody know what
I'm talking about? If they do, are there ports of this daemon out there
for Linux?
